DT Olsen Pierre joins fellow former Cardinals with Giants

The Arizona Cardinals have lost another defensive player to the New York Giants. The latest is defensive tackle Olsen Pierre.

He joins the team after three seasons with the Cardinals and was not tendered as a restricted free agent.

Pierre was inactive all 16 games in 2016 after being signed by the Cardinals. He was a standout in 2017, appearing in 14 games and collecting 5.5 sacks, the second-highest total on the team.

However, he struggled in 2018, playing in only 10 games. He had 12 tackles and zero sacks.

He joins Markus Golden and Antoine Bethea as the third Cardinals defensive player this offseason to be reunited with Giants defensive coordinator James Bettcher, who was the Cardinals’ DC from 2015-2017. Kareem Martin, also a former Cardinal, signed with New York last offseason.

Pierre is the seventh Cardinals player to sign elsewhere this offseason.
