DSPCA find cute little hamster abandoned in small carrier bag at Ranelagh Luas stop

The DSPCA found this cute little hamster abandoned in a small carrier bag at the Luas stop in Ranelagh.

And they are looking to reunite the critter with the owner who may have forgotten him.

The cutie was named Coconut and went home for the weekend with staff member Tanya, who described him as “the sweetest little hamster ever.”

The DSPCA tweeted: “Did anyone forget about me and leave me in a little hamster carrier in another bag at the Luas stop in Ranelagh today?

“Shane brought me back to the DSPCA so I am safe.

“They called me Coconut.”

Earlier this week, DSPCA spokeswoman Gillian Bird told Dublin Live: “Please do not abandon your animal and if you do have a problem, please contact us.

"We will do absolutely anything we can to help you, we can take in your pet but you have to work with us.

“Abandoning an animal is illegal and not safe because you have no idea who would pick them up or what could happen, plus it's not safe with the weather that we’re having as well.”
