Drunken yob who took part in mass brawl outside Anfield wanted by police

A man who drank 10 cans before a mass brawl outside Anfield after Liverpool's Premier League title win is wanted on recall to prison.

Jack Stuart Hayes was jailed in March 2021 and handed a seven-year Football Banning Order after disgraceful scenes of violent disorder outside Anfield football ground in July 2020.

Thousands of fans turned up at the stadium to celebrate the triumph, despite being warned to stay at home because of the coronavirus pandemic. Mobile phone footage later emerged showing two groups clashing on Townson Street, next to The Park pub opposite the Kop stand.

Hayes was one of around 14 people involved in the fight that featured punching, kicking and throwing objects. Hayes, 28, of Brook Street, Birkenhead, was recognised by officers in Wirral. His house was raided but he wasn't at home and was circulated as wanted, before his arrest in February 2021.

At his sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Robert Trevor-Jones said Hayes was one of "thousands" of fans who "ignored" warnings to stay at home and went to celebrate outside the stadium. He said there was a "large scale disturbance", which Hayes was "quite clearly substantially involved in". He jailed him for 20 months.

Hayes was released from prison this month but has since breached his license conditions. He is described as a white male, 5ft 11in tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has links to areas in the Wirral and North Wales.

Anyone who has seen Hayes or has any information about his whereabouts is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
