A drunk woman has been jailed for savagely biting a police officer's arm and shoving another cop in a "heinous" attack just minutes into New Year's Day.
Shortly after revellers toasted the New Year, Judith Mundle, 36, sank her teeth into the cop's bicep after she was booted out of a bar for being aggressive.
While she was being escorted away from the bar on Bridge Street, Walsall, West Mids, two officers approached her.
A female officer tried to calm her down but the 36-year-old turned her aggression towards her and shoved her in the chest.
As the officers quickly attempted to cuff Mundle, she launched forward biting one of them on his arm through three layers of clothing and cutting his skin.
The shocked cop was rushed to hospital where he received a tetanus jab and a course of antibiotics.
He will also require a follow up appointment to determine if he will need any further medication.
West Midlands Police have released a shocking picture of the bite mark suffered by the cop as Mundle was jailed for 18 weeks.
On Thursday Mundle, of Birmingham, admitted assaulting an officer and assault causing actual bodily harm at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court.
Chief Superintendent Andy Parsons, Commander of Walsall neighbourhood policing unit, said: "This is a heinous act on one of our colleagues, who was trying to ensure the safety of our community as we enter a new year.
"This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated on our streets.
"I very much welcome this sentence and hope people see this as a warning that we will take robust action against anyone who attempts to assault a member of our police family."
