Drunk Whitley Bay pest rang police and shouted obscenities before telling them 'you should die'

A drunk pest dialled 101 to shout abuse at police and tell them they "should die" during two bizarre rants.

Timothy Drydon made both phone calls within an hour of each other and told officers they were "f*****g muppets" and "c****s".

A court was told that the 42-year-old also referred to the police as "black f*****g b******s" but was not charged with a racially aggravated offence as prosecutors accepted it was a "local term" for members of the police force.

Drydon, of Whitley Road, Whitley Bay, was soon tracked down and arrested and later pleaded guilty to a malicious communications offence when he appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court.

Ben Woodward, prosecuting, said the Drydon first rang 101 at around 9.55pm on May 7 this year.

He added: "The defendant stated "yous are b******s, black c****, f*****g muppet b******s".

"The second time he rang, he said "yous are all black f******g b******s, coppers want to f*****g die, yous are all b******s and should die".

"The black b******s is a local term for officers, something I didn't know until today, so there's no suggestion there's a racial intention."

Mark Styles, defending, said Drydon suffered with a drink problem at the time but had sought the correct support and had not turned back to alcohol since offence, despite his mother dying.

The solicitor added: "This offence has made him change his lifestyle and face his problems head-on.

"He's embarrassed and shocked. He was interviewed and got very distressed when he heard what he had said."

Magistrates fined Drydon £120 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
