Drunk thug punched woman who found him slumped in street next to his daughter, 4

A thug got 'paralytically drunk' at a party then punched a woman who found him slumped in the street with his young daughter standing next to him.

Samuel Clough attacked the passer by who tried to help take the four-year-old to safety, breaking her nose with a single thump.

It came after the 29-year-old had been drinking heavily at a nearby bash in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, according to The Mirror .

He then ran off with the child after getting into a row with his girlfriend.

The brute was jailed for one year after admitting to assault, causing actual bodily harm on May 26 last year.

Sentencing the irresponsible dad at Grimsby Crown Court, Recorder Gurdial Singh said: "You were absolutely paralytic.

"There was absolutely no justification for you to deliver that blow. It was gratuitous. She was a woman.

"Her only concern was for your daughter. This was a most obscene use of force."

The judge was told Clough had convictions for 58 previous offences, including assault causing actual bodily harm.

Steven Freestone, mitigating, said it was a very unpleasant injury but it was just one blow.

Clough, of Clethorpes, Lincolnshire, was working and had kept out of trouble since 2015.

He had been to prison previously.
