A mortified Scots reveller woke up after a night out to find he'd stolen a bar's thermometer.
The punter attempted to patch things up by penning an apology letter to Huxley Bar and Restaurant in Edinburgh.
'The Very Sorry Plate Thief' enjoyed one too many libations in the boozer's beer garden with friends, Edinburgh Live reports.
In the note they recalled being 'loud and disruptive' and downing 'copious amounts of wine and cocktails'.

Full of Dutch courage, they then admitted tried to leave Huxley Bar with a burger on one of the restaurant's plates.
They also fessed up to becoming 'infatuated' with nicking one of the venue thermometers.
The vital gadgets record customers' temperatures to reduce the risk of anyone with deadly Covid-19 entering the premises.
Attempting to clear their conscience, the ‘embarrassed’ customer returned the thermometer to the bar alongside the letter and some kit Kats and Magic Stars for the bar staff to enjoy.
Luckily for the local, The Huxley saw the funny side of the drunken antics.
General Manager Mike Lewis told said: “She was great - when arriving, she was adamant that she needed a selfie with the thermometer when taking temperature- when staff's back were turned she pinched the thermometer.
“After being sat for a while - she ran off with her burger- staff got it off her and boxed it up for her to take away.
“Staff took it all in good jest even though they were incredibly busy serving other guests.”
The Huxley shared the ordeal on social media with the caption: “Dear 'The very sorry plate thief'
“We get it . . . we are all excited to get back out to the pub . . . it’s been too long and we’ve missed you all too.
“You came, you saw and you conquered that burger.
“You rock and we absolutely accept your apology.
“We will see you soon.”
