Drunk Ryanair passenger called flight attendant 'fat white b****' in abusive rant

A man reduced a flight attendant to tears when he launched into an abusive drunken rant and repeatedly called her a "fat white b****".

Mohammed Shiraz Riaz, 40, became aggressive on the two-hour Ryanair flight from Marrakesh to Liverpool in July 2019 and began abusing cabin crew supervisor Jelena Zuravska.

She wrote a note to the captain, asking him to arrange for police to meet them at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and slipped it under the door.

Some of the passengers stepped in to help the woman, while one threatened to punch him, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Riaz was due to stand trial at Wirral Magistrates' Court on May 7, but he failed to turn up and claimed he had to self isolate.

Ms Zuravska told the court Riaz was "friendly" when he first got on the flight and she served him four Jack Daniels with Cokes and a sandwich.

But when he asked for another drink and she was too busy to serve him, he walked to the toilet and was heard muttering "f***ing fat b**** stewardess".

She said he was "persistently" asking for more alcohol and he "became more aggressive and loud".

"He started verbally attacking me personally, saying 'who f***ed your mother fat stewardess white b****'," she told the court.

"I tried to remain as calm as I could and be professional for the safety of the other passengers. I just felt he was trying to provoke me."

She added: "He seemed to have a real hatred towards women.

"As he became more aggressive towards me and more vocal, other passengers stepped in to try and calm the situation."

Andrew Downie, prosecuting, said that when Mr Riaz was told the police had been called, he said: "f*** the police I will pay them £200 and they will let me off with it.'"

And when Ms Zuravska made the safety announcement, he shouted "look at that fat f***ing b****".

He also blew raspberries, shouting "look she's farted".

She said that when the plane landed, Mr Riaz stood up and grab his bag from the overhead locker while the plane was still moving.

"He was shouting, he was screaming. He gave me the feeling he was going to fight me," she said.

In a statement read to the court, Guerino Ferrara, another member of the cabin crew, described Ms Zurvaska as "strong" and "very professional".

He said Riaz seemed "friendly" at first, but half an hour later was "like a different person" and he repeatedly called Ms Zurvaska a "white fat b****".

PC Michael Ireland that when the doors of the plane opened he could see Ms Zurvaska was "clearly upset" and Riaz came down the steps, presented his wrists and said: "You may as well handcuff me now."

According to the officer, Riaz claimed: "I've done f*** all wrong that fat b**** has called you to make me look stupid".

The court also heard that Riaz "bounced backwards and forwards" in the police car and bit PC Ireland on the arm, when the officer attempted to restrain him.

The following morning, he told police Ms Zurvaska was "exaggerating everything, making a little situation into a big situation" during an interview.

But he also admitted being drunk and said he had also taken two Tramadol and two ibuprofen tablets.

Riaz, of Kaye Street, Heckmondwike in West Yorkshire, was charged with being drunk in an aircraft and assaulting an emergency worker and was found guilty in his absence.

A warrant for Riaz's arrest was then issued.
