'Drunk passenger' removed from easyJet flight leaving Belfast after alleged assault

A disruptive passenger was removed from an easyJet flight from Belfast to Turkey this afternoon following an alleged assault.

The incident took place onboard the 2.30pm flight from Belfast International Airport to Dalaman in Turkey after a "drunk passenger" caused disruption as the plane was going to take off.

A witness on the flight claimed that a female passenger had assaulted a male passenger.

They claimed that the female passenger was drunk at the time of the incident.

The aircraft returned to the airport where the passenger was met by police and removed from the plane before the flight was able to continue to its destination.

easyJet has said that it takes incidents of this nature very seriously and does not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour.

An easyJet spokesperson said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY3055 from Belfast International Airport to Dalaman (Turkey) on 8 April returned to stand due to a passenger behaving disruptively. The aircraft was met by police and the passenger was offloaded before the flight continued to Dalaman.

“Our cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard. The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet's priority.”
