Drunk Paisley thug kicked off after thinking pal was trying to steal his girl

A jealous yob sparked mayhem amid fears his mate was making moves on his girlfriend.

Tanked-up Ross Docherty lost the plot with pal Robert Milne after they had been on a drinking session in Paisley with Docherty’s partner Nicola Perritt.

Docherty, 21, punched doors and walls, shouted abuse at his partner, and even tossed his door keys behind his telly, in an attempt to keep Ms Perritt at his flat in the town’s South Campbell Street .

Paisley Sheriff Court heard all hell broke loose following their night on the tiles on November 9, last year.

Fiscal depute John Penman said: “Mr Milne and Ms Perritt had spent the evening drinking alcohol at DeBeers and the Tea Gardens public houses in Paisley.

“At around 9.30pm, all three left the Tea Gardens public house in Causeyside Street and wandered nearby to a chippy at Espedair Street.

“The accused, at that point in time, became somewhat agitated. He couldn’t find his tobacco pouch. He believed his partner, Ms Perritt, had it on her.

“They continued along the street to his flat, where a disturbance ensued where he behaved in an aggressive manner, shouting, bawling, punching walls and doors, and tried to prevent the witnesses from leaving his home after throwing his keys behind the television set.”

The court heard Mr Milne ran out of patience at Docherty’s childish antics and “manhandled” him out of their path so that the they could leave his flat safely.

The fiscal added: “Mr Milne took matters into his own hands. He manhandled Mr Docherty out of the way and both witnesses left and took a taxi home.”

This week, Docherty appeared in the dock, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person fear or alarm in that he shouted, swore, punched walls and doors, towards Mr Docherty and Ms Perritt.

Defence agent Bob Kerr said: “The three of them had been drinking.

“The three of them were intoxicated. They went back to his flat.

“Difficulties arose between Mr Docherty and Mr Milne as he was very much of the view that his friend was making advances on Ms Perritt.”

The lawyer added that Ms Perritt and Docherty are no longer an item after the night in question.

Sheriff James Spy said he was adjourning sentencing Docherty for four weeks to call for a Criminal Justice Social Work Report.

He was freed on bail and will discover his fate when he reappears in court on April 30.
