Drunk man kicked out of McDonalds for taking cider inside

A drunk man was ejected from McDonald's on New Year's Day because he tried to take alcohol inside.

When police officers arrived in Clumber Street at 5.20am, Steven McKinlay was found to have a bottle of cider.

This was confiscated by a police officer who poured it away, said Robert Carr, prosecuting at Nottingham Magistrates' Court. A McDonald's security guard had told him of the earlier incident in the cafe.

An officer prepared to issue him with a "dispersal notice," which would have ordered him to leave the area. He refused to give his name and was told he would be arrested.

"No, you're not," said McKinlay, 24, of Thorold Close, Clifton. He admitted being drunk and disorderly and having a small amount of cannabis.

He must pay fines totalling £80, £85 prosecution costs and a government surcharge of £32. The drug must be destroyed.
