Drunk man jailed after threatening to ‘blow all the police stations up’

A man who was so drunk he called 999 and threatened to ‘blow up’ all of the police stations has been jailed.

Rias Uddin Choudrey, 44, had made the call to Greater Manchester Police before they traced it back to an address in Manchester.

When the police arrived, they found Choudrey, of Longsight, stood on the street and he was drunk, Manchester Magistrates Court heard.

Pleading guilty to communicating false information about a bomb, Choudrey was sentenced to 26 weeks imprisonment.

Briefly outlining the facts of the case, prosecutor Laura Peers told the court that on August 9 at around 5pm, GMP received a 999 call from Choudrey.

“The defendant was telling them he was going to blow all the police stations up,” Ms Peers said.

“Police traced the call to Antillies Close in Longsight.

“There, the defendant was arrested on the street - he was drunk.”

Choudrey was said to have a long history of previous convictions including a previous offence for communicating false information about a bomb in 2017.

Sentencing him, District Judge Mark Hadfield said: “Because of your history of convictions, I see no other option than custody.”

Choudrey, of Albert Grove, was sentenced to 26 weeks imprisonment.
