Drunk man chased brother in car after he caught him cheating with his wife

A jilted husband was arrested for drink driving after catching his wife cheating on him with his brother, a court heard.

Quarry worker Shaun Bolton jumped into the car to go after his sibling who he had caught cavorting with his wife after a boozy night out.

The cuckolded dad had gone to bed early following a drinking session with his sibling and spouse, leaving them downstairs together.

He was woken by the noise of them romping at around 4am.

The 33-year-old went downstairs and caught his wife "in a compromising position" with his brother.

After his love rival leaped up and fled the house, Bolton started smashing things up before jumping into his car in pursuit.

The cheating wife was so worried about his "mental state" she dialled 999 and told the operator what had happened.

Police spotted Bolton's blue Ford C Max being driven along Huddersfield Road in Bradford.

The drink driver was sentenced at Kirklees Magistrates Court (MEN/Huddersfield Examiner)

Prosecutor Venessa Jones told Kirklees Magistrates: "They noticed that the vehicle had been circulated for observation because of another matter.

"They put their blue lights and sirens on and indicated for the vehicle to stop. It didn't stop straightaway but then came to a house and pulled up outside."

Bolton was taken to the police station where an alcohol breath test came back double the legal limit for driving.

Sarah Carter, mitigating, explained Bolton had been drinking at home with his wife and brother but went to bed earlier than them.

She said: "He's then woken up and gone down to find his wife and brother in a compromising position.

"He lost the plot and his brother left the address and drove off.

"Mr Bolton smashed some of the property in his state then got in his car to try and find his brother to speak about what happened.

"It's not an excuse for his behaviour but an explanation as to why he's suddenly behaved in this way."

She said that the couple had since patched up their relationship.

Bolton admitted drink driving on October 5.

He was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £120, with £85 court costs and a £32 surcharge.
