Drunk man, 50, fined after getting locked out of his house and sleeping in the street

Drunk Troy Walker ended up out of pocket when he started boozing in a snooker club at 9am.

When night drew in, he was still there and loaned his keys to his mum who wanted to head back to their New Basford home.

The decision left Walker locked out of the Camelot Avenue house and hollering through the letterbox so loudly neighbours alerted police.

His mum searched her handbag but could not find the keys so Walker fell asleep beside her car parked outside, city magistrates heard.

And he was still asleep when police arrested him at 12.01am after they stumbled over his body on the ground.

Walker's response was to tell an officer: "Don't kick me. I'll kick you."

Sanjay Jerath, prosecuting, went on: "He became aggressive, confrontational. He continued shouting and swearing.

"He said 'I am not going anywhere' when told he was going to be arrested."

When questioned later, 50-year-old Walker told officers he had started drinking at the snooker club at 9am on May 12. Later he was accidentally locked out of his home.

"He didn't think he had done anything wrong," added Mr Jerath.

Julian Griffiths, mitigating, said Walker had been hurt during the police incident, pointing to a graze on his forehead, but Walker did not want to make an issue of this and pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour.

"He conked out next to the car and they tried to wake him up. He said they kicked him and he objected.

"Basically, he used some choice words," said Mr Griffiths. He told the court Walker spent over 16 hours in a cell.

He said it was quite clear he had been accidentally locked out of the house he shares with his mother.

"One officer looked through a window and saw a relatively elderly lady sat on the floor rummaging through a bag.

"She was looking for a key to try and let him in. He was shouting through the letterbox," added Mr Griffiths.

Walker was fined £50 but must also pay £85 prosecution costs and government tax of £30.
