Drunk driver wrecks car on roundabout before 'fleeing scene', police say

PSNI officers used police dogs to track down a drunk driver after they crashed into a roundabout tonight.

The squad, from Mahon Road in Portadown, detained the motorist who had wrecked the car they were in.

The collision happened at the roundabout on the M12 between Craigavon and the M1 although the exact time is unclear.

Police say Road Policing Unit and local officers were involved in the arrest as well as the dogs. It is alleged that the male driver “crashed and fled the scene”.

A preliminary breath test, PSNI Road Policing added in a Facebook post, “indicated the driver was almost three times the drink drive limit. The consequences could have been far worse”.
