Drunk driver plows into family car with six-month-old on board

A six-month-old baby had a lucky escape after a drunk driver ploughed into the back of a family car sending it through the window of a Chinese takeaway.

The family car was parked outside the business on the Lurgan Road in Portadown on Friday night when the incident happened.

The drunk driver, who had reportedly stolen the vehicle, crashed into the back of the parked car, sending the car through the window. He was arrested at the scene.

A PSNI Craigavon spokesperson said the 'line between life and death here is far too slender'.

"Thankfully, no injuries to anyone on board this car.  The lines are too slender. Between prison time and freedom for the offender, between life and death for the victim. It is NEVER worth it."
