Drunk claimed he is Jeremy Kyle and Joseph Stalin in foul-mouthed rant at cops

A drunk claimed he was Jeremy Kyle and Joseph Stalin during a foul-mouthed rant at police.

Robert Fraser told officers he was the chat show host and former Soviet Union leader before yelling "IRA all the way".

He then threatened to shoot, bomb and kill the officers and was arrested for the abusive rant.

Police had been asked to attend to Fraser, of Paisley, Renfrewshire, after he was spotted sleeping in the middle of a public path at 10pm.

He went on to kick an officer driving along the motorway as she took him to the station following a separate arrest.

The details emerged when Fraser, 50, appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court over the incidents.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive way in New Street, Paisley, on October 29 last year.

Prosecutor Martina McGuigan explained: "Officers observed the accused, woke him up, and he stated he was Jeremy Kyle.

"He uttered the comment, 'IRA all the way'.

"He continued to shout phrases such as 'I'll f****** shoot and bomb you. I'll kill you.'."

He was arrested and released when sober, with a report sent to prosecutors.

He was arrested again in February this year, and assaulted Constable Susanne Fleming as she drove him to Helen Street Police Station.

He kicked her in the side as she drove to the station, in Glasgow's Govan area, along the M8 motorway at 70-miles-per-hour.

Defence solicitor Eamonn McGeehan said: "He also claimed to be Joseph Stalin.

"He has no recollection of the offences."

Sheriff Gillian Craig jailed Fraser for five months for the offences, backdated to February 14, when he was first remanded in custody.

She said: "I find it completely unacceptable that you kicked a police officer driving at 70-miles-per-hour on the motorway.

"The consequences could've been catastrophic, for both the passengers in your vehicle and passengers in surrounding vehicles.

"I looked at that with particular disdain."

In 2019, Fraser was jailed for domestic abuse.

He let himself into his ex-partner Amanda Chappell's home uninvited, a number of years after he'd last seen her, and sang Blondie hit One Way Or Another.
