Drumoyne stabbing – Man rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Shieldhall Road

A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in Shieldhall Road.

Emergency services raced to the area at around 10:20pm last night and the 45-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. His condition is not yet known.

The street remained closed eastbound at Drumoyne Road for several hours, with video footage shared online showing several police vans lining the street. Local eyewitnesses also reported seeing a helicopter hovering above the area.

A heavy police presence was also reported at the nearby Fairfield Club in Crossloan Road at around midnight, though the two incidents are not thought to be related.

The road reopened to traffic at around 7am this morning.

Police Scotland said: "At around 10:20pm on Saturday, police received a report of a 45-year-old man found injured in Shieldhall Road, Glasgow. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to stab wounds. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of what happened."
