Drummond powers Pistons past Wizards, 103-92

DETROIT _ In winning the first three games against the Detroit Pistons this season, the Washington Wizards controlled the third quarters.

Stopping that trend Thursday night was the key to the Pistons' fifth victory in six games.

The Pistons (35-40) outscored the Wizards, 32-17, in the third quarter on the way to a 103-92 victory at Little Caesars Arena.

Power forward Blake Griffin was a late scratch with a right ankle contusion, but Andre Drummond was dominant with 24 points and 23 rebounds.

The Pistons moved to 4-1 since point guard Reggie Jackson returned from the right ankle sprain that forced him to miss 37 games.

He finished with 13 points on 6-for-16 shooting and he made two baskets late in the fourth quarter when the Wizards had pulled to within four points. He added eight assists.

Reggie Bullock scored 14 points and Griffin's replacement in the starting lineup, Anthony Tolliver, added 14 points.

The Pistons held the Wizards (41-34) to 41.6 percent shooting.

Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 15 points, although he was 1-for-8 from 3-point range.

The Pistons are now 4{ games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the Eastern Conference's eighth and final playoff spot with seven games left. The Bucks played at Golden State late Thursday.
