HUNDREDS of young drummers have pounded their way into performing arts on the sand at Bar Beach.

The Drum Corp Junior Jam attracted 180 students in Years Two, Three and Four onto the sand to perform the song The Future by Savona for a film crew.

Drum Corp founder and former Screaming Jets drummer Col Hatchman said the program was designed to combine creativity with physical education.

"Specifically, we use a series of physical techniques to hold engagement throughout our lessons, which in turn improves attention to detail and confidence," he said.

"We believe that introducing creativity and coordination at the beginning of the school day stimulates concentration and positivity, and this in turn is applied to the remainder of the day."
