AIZAWL: Mizoram excise and narcotics department officials have seized drugs worth Rs 12.48 lakh in the local market in Aizawl city since Wednesday afternoon, department spokesman Peter Zohmingthanga said on Thursday.
Zohmingthanga said 361 grams of heroin and 1,340 tablets of methamphetamine were seized from three places on the outskirts of Aizawl, which were trafficked from neighbouring Myanmar.
He said four persons, including two women, were arrested for alleged possession of the contraband and booked under relevant sections of the The Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
The accused were produced before the special judge (NDPS Act) in Aizawl, who remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days and sent them to the Central Jail at Tanhril near Aizawl.
