Revenue officers seized drugs worth over €43,000 following a search of a property in south Dublin.

Officers found 281 grams of MDMA, 2,600 ecstasy tablets and five cannabis plants at the property in Terenure earlier today.

The value of the drugs seized is estimated to be around €43,660.

The search was part of an intelligence led operation.

The Multi-Agency operation was conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Terenure District Drugs Unit.

A 24-year old man was arrested by gardai and is being detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Terenure Garda Station.

The operation was part of Revenue’s investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

A Revenue spokeswoman said investigations into the find are ongoing.

She added: "This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

"If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding drug smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
