Drugs raid police operation joined by elf

The elf is very definitely off the shelf in North West Leicestershire - and he's joined the local police force.

Eric, as he has been named, has joined the boys and girls in blue on a number of operations including a drugs raid and a clampdown on anti-social behaviour.

And, according to Leicestershire Live, in the process the cheeky chappie has become a social media star who has been sighted across his home county.

“Officers, helped by Eric the Elf, executed a drugs warrant in Castle Donington, where a male has been arrested on suspicious of drugs supply,” an officer posted on Facebook.

Eric even got his hands on an evidence bag and "the big red key" - a battering ram which officers use to smash doors in.

The elf has also assisted road safety officers, accompanied the dog unit, supported police cadets at a crime prevention event in Ashby and looked for anti-social behaviour in Whitwick.

The Leicestershire public have taken to the social media campaign in the run-up to Christmas.

Mary Fox said: “Nice one Elf I think u need be took on all year around.”

Rick Ingram joked: “Should he not be wearing a hi viz jacket? Elf and safety and all that."
