A police probe is under way after the brother of a drugs kingpin was stabbed outside a busy supermarket.
Mark Richardson’s younger sibling Dale managed to stagger back to his car, leaving a trail of blood in the car park of the Tesco store in Edinburgh ’s Gracemount area.
He then went to hospital to have his wound treated.
Members of the public reported the stabbing to police and some identified Dale, whose brother Mark – alleged to have links to the Daniel crime family and the Gillespie brothers – is serving eight years in jail. Dale Richardson was badly beaten in 2010.
Police are probing intelligence that the recent attack could be linked to the murder of T2 Trainspotting star Bradley Welsh.
A source said: “Officers approached Dale Richardson for a statement but he refused to give one, or to engage in any way.”
Police are appealing for information following the attack last Thursday night.
Detective Inspector Bob Campbell said: “This appears to have been a targeted attack.
“It took place outside a busy shop with numerous members of the public present, so we appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.”
