Drugs found and dangerous weapon seized at house in St Helens

Drugs and a dangerous weapon has been recovered and seized following a warrant on a St Helens property.

Officers searched two separate houses in St Helens town centre on Thursday in response to community intelligence.

A man was arrested and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Police said class A drugs were found and officers also seized a dangerous weapon at the first location, but a search of the second property was negative.

In a statement today, Merseyside Police said: "We carried out two drug warrants at two properties in St Helens town centre yesterday, Thursday, June 10, in response to community intelligence.

"We arrested a 49 year-old man on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug Class A. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

"During a search of the property a knife was also recovered and seized.

"The search of the second property was negative."
