Drugs Dublin: Gardai nab man with €10k of cannabis and resin along with €3k of cash

Garda checks in Dublin continue to find lawbreakers after a man was caught with drugs and thousands in cash last night.

Gardai were out on patrol in Sutton yesterday when they stopped a car as part of an investigation.

After a search, they found cannabis herb and resin worth more than €10,000 and €3,000 in cash.

The main is currently being held in a Dublin garda station for questioning after being arrested.

They said: "Gardaí seized quantities of cannabis herb and resin worth in excess of €10,000 as well as €3,000 in cash when they stopped a car, while on patrol, in the Sutton area on Friday night. One male was arrested as part of this investigation and is currently detained for questioning."

It follows a massive raid yesterday in Kildare that saw €7.4 million of cannabis herb found by gardai.

This was then followed by a follow-up investigation where 11kg of cocaine was found, bringing the total discovery yesterday to €8.2 million worth of drugs.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Since 1st January, 2021, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) has seized illicit drugs with a total estimated street value of €12.1 million; while GNDOCB has also seized cash to a value of over €3.27 million and, also, one firearm accompanied by five rounds of ammunition, within that period.

"A total of eleven persons have been arrested in the course of investigations associated with the relevant seizures of drugs, cash and firearms."
