Drugs crook led police on 50mph chase past school in £30k buggy

A drugs crook driving a £30,000 buggy led police on a chase that had to be abandoned after he sped past a school.

Officers began a pursuit of Jamie Oldroyd when he was spotted driving the off-road vehicle through his hometown of Warrington .

But they had to end the operation when he reached speeds approaching 50mph as he neared a school.

The patrol left him to continue on Station Road South - but he was arrested at a later date.

The chase came as detectives were beginning a 14 month probe into the 29-year-old's exploits.

That investigation led to the discovery of evidence revealing him as a significant player in the northern cocaine market.

While running a car rental firm Oldroyd was actually overseeing a multi-million pound Class A drugs gang.

With his associates he supplied dealers from London to Manchester, Darlington to Scunthorpe.

The profits were vast - a home video showed him sitting in a living room surrounded by an estimated £150,000 in cash .

He was seen driving 17 vehicles over the course of the investigation, codenamed Operation Dreadnought.
