Canberra property developer Jaime Farrelly has had one of a series of charges against him dismissed.
Jaime Charles Farrelly was arrested in NSW in October last year on multiple charges, including possessing drugs and firearms, and impersonating a Commonwealth official.
He pleaded guilty earlier this year to a single charge of possessing or attempting to possess a prescribed restricted substance.
At the sentencing hearing held at the Downing Centre in Sydney on Thursday, August 13, that charge was dismissed on the condition that Farrelly attend a doctor within a month, and comply with all reasonable directions from the doctor in relation to counselling, rehabilitation, treatment and medication.
He had faced a fine of up to $2200 or a maximum term of imprisonment of six months or two years depending on the category of the drug.
Farrelly will return to the NSW Local Court on Thursday, September 3 for a further mention of his remaining charges.
These include supplying a prohibited drug, possessing unregistered firearms, possessing ammunition without holding a licence, acquiring a prohibited firearm with no authority to do so, and two charges of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.
He has also been charged with impersonating a Commonwealth public official, which carries a maximum penalty of two years' imprisonment.
Two further charges of possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm and impersonating a Commonwealth public official with intent to deceive, were withdrawn at an earlier hearing.
Farrelly has not yet entered pleas on any of the remaining charges, and his bail will continue with the same conditions imposed at the first hearing, which included that he surrender his passport, avoid international departure points and report to local police each day.
Farrelly was arrested in October 2025 after a month-long investigation by the Australian Federal Police.
That investigation uncovered allegedly fake badges for the FBI and CIA, hats and T-shirts with Australian Federal Police insignia, replica firearms, gel blasters, steroids and cocaine at the former Canberra developer's rented Double Bay home.
It began after an allegedly fake police badge and identification card were handed in to the Bondi police station.
Farrelly had previously come into the public eye when the ACT government amended its sunset clause laws after his property development company cancelled a number of its customers' off-the-plan contracts and resold them at a higher price.
In 2023, he was disqualified from being a director of a company for two years by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. The ban ended the day before he was arrested.
The regulator had found Farrelly and his business partner, Gary Kelly, had been the directors of at least five companies which had entered into liquidation in a two-year period, and that they had resigned as directors to protect their credit rating.
A third director, Paul Hamilton, began proceedings under the Fair Work Act against Farrelly in late 2025.
