Drug driver caught speeding double the speed limit

A Canberra woman has been caught driving at more than twice the speed limit while also drug driving.

The woman, 37, was seen driving a black SUV northbound in Aranda at 11.20pm on Monday.

Officers carrying out speed checks along the road clocked her at doing 122km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Police stopped the car a short time later on Haydon Drive in Bruce.

A police spokesman said the woman was then given a roadside drug test, where she recorded a positive result.

She was taken to Belconnen police station for further testing and again tested positive.

The woman was charged with driving more than 45km/h over the speed limit and driving with a prescribed drug.

She will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
