Drug driver arrested for driving over 100mph on the motorway on New Year's Day

A drug driver has been arrested after being caught speeding at over 100mph on the motorway.

Police spotted the car weaving in and out of traffic on the M61 on New Years Day.

The blue Golf R Arena was heading towards Horwich when police gave chase and pulled it over.

The driver was drug-tested and provided a positive sample.

Police arrested them on the spot.

The police officer on duty had tried to stop the same car on Saturday, but they had escaped.

GMP say this time the driver was given 'no chance'.

In a tweet, Greater Manchester Traffic Police said: "#M11 stopped this Golf R Arena approach Horwich after seeing it weave it's way through traffic on the M61 at speeds in excess of 100mph.

"The car had also made off from the same officer on Saturday. Given no chance to this time!

"Driver failed drug test +was arrested."
