Drug driver arrested after multi-car crash in south Dublin

A driver was arrested following a multi-car collision on a south Dublin road.

The incident happened on Haddington Road in Dublin 8 after a car rammed into a number of parked cars around 7.45 pm.

The motorist was taken in by gardai after testing positive for drugs.

The road was temporarily blocked as firefighters from Donnybrook Fire Station worked to clear the scene of the crash.

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "I refer to your enquiry and confirm a material damage RTC occurred on Haddington Road, last night Tuesday 9th March, 2021 at approximately 7.45p.m.

"One car hit a number of parked cars. One driver arrested for drug driving and investigations ongoing."

Speaking about the incident, Dublin Fire Brigade said on Twitter: "Firefighters from Donnybrook fire station were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle road traffic collision tonight.

"Haddington Road was temporarily blocked to traffic whilst crews worked to make the scene safe."
