The home of a drug dealer found in possession of MDMA and cannabis was raided by police in the early hours of the morning while his children slept.
Ricky Dupon, 28, was visited by police at his home in Newport at around 5am on October 5 and was seen throwing a bag out of his bedroom window.
When the bag was recovered, it was found to contain 723.5g of cannabis, scales and a quantity of MDMA which weighed 10.34g, as well as 115 Xanax tablets.
Prosecutor James Evans told a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday that Dupon was also found in possession of a Surron electric bike and a Voodoo push bike, worth £5,000 between them. These items were believed to have been bought from the proceeds of drug dealing.
Police also seized two mobile phones, one of which was found behind a picture frame and was found to contain evidence of drug dealing.
The court heard Dupon's three stepchildren and young child were present in the house at the time of the raid.
The defendant, of Chaffinch Way, Duffryn, was on licence after being sentenced to two years imprisonment for possession with intent to supply MDMA.
He was arrested and later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply MDMA, cannabis and class C drugs, and possession of criminal property.
Defence barrister Scott Bowen said his client had sought to find employment after being released from prison but was unsuccessful so "reverted to type" by returning to drug dealing.
He said the defendant did not live a "lavish lifestyle" but was addicted to drugs himself and was selling drugs to fund his own habit.
Sentencing, Recorder Dyfed Thomas said: "Drugs as you know are a scourge on our communities and class A drugs are a malign influence on those communities and do great harm.
"You involved yourself in the sale of those drugs for financial gain."
Dupon was sentenced to a total of 40 months imprisonment, with the suspended sentence not activated.
