Drug dealer threw heroin and crack cocaine out of Mercedes as he tried to escape police

A drug dealer tried to run from police after he was spotted throwing packets of cocaine and heroin out of of a Mercedes.

Ahmed Yehia, 20, of Heydean Road in Allerton was a passenger in a red Mercedes spotted traveling at Newby Bridge in Cumbria by police.

Officers went to stop the vehicle and as it pulled into Newby Bridge Service Station, three packages were thrown out of the passenger side window.

As the Mercedes stopped the passenger - later identified as Yehia - got out of the rear seat of the car and fled but was soon caught by officers.

Police were able to recover the items thrown from the window of the Mercedes.

They included a clear plastic bag containing small wraps and a whit plastic bag containing four medium sized bundles and a large plastic wrap.

The discarded items tested positive for crack cocaine and heroin.

Sergeant Gareth Sargent said “Yehia was found with a significant quantity of drugs.

“Supplying drugs in our community is not acceptable and the sentence handed down reflects this.

“The Barrow proactive team continues to work alongside the mobile support group and crime and safeguarding team to take criminals off our streets and will continue to do so.”

Yehia was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for possession with intent to supply class A drugs at Preston Crown Court on June 2.
