Drug dealer suffers serious injuries falling off a wall as police chase him

A drug dealer suffered serious injuries when he tried to escape capture by police.

Officers carrying a search warrant stopped two men in a Ford van travelling near Dover Marina in Kent.

Jack Moore, 30, of Fincham Road in Huyton, who was inside the van, fled from officers when the vehicle was stopped.

As Moore attempted to make good his escape, he fell from a wall and suffered “serious injuries” on landing.

After searching the van, police discovered three bricks of heroin weighing nearly two kilos and more than 50 wraps of cocaine with a street value of around £100,000.

Around £3,000 in cash, phones, scales and other drug dealing equipment was also seized during the search in March of this year.

Both Moore and the van’s other occupant, Thomas Wood, 44, of no fixed address were arrested and both later admitted two counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Moore was eventually discharged from hospital before facing trial.

Detective Constable Laura Corbin, Kent Police's investigating officer, said: “As the judge found, Moore and Wood were higher up the chain than street dealers, and were playing leading roles in dealing Class A drugs in Kent.

“The drugs we seized as part of this operation would have led to more crime in the county and more misery for vulnerable drugs users and I am pleased to see significant sentences handed down.

“Kent Police is determined to disrupt drug dealing networks and to shut down the activities of those who bring illegal substances into the county from elsewhere.”

Moore was given a five-year, three-month sentence and Wood was sentenced to four years and 87 days at Canterbury Crown Court.
