A mobile phone belonging to a drug dealer revealed to police he and his partner were dealing heroin and crack cocaine.
Police raided the home of Lee Gregory, 48, and Holly Clark, 36, in Cardiff on October 4 last year after receiving intelligence they had been dealing Class A drugs. Gregory was searched and was found with 1.56g of heroin worth £150.
Also seized were two sets of scales, adulterants used to cut heroin, a sim card, a mobile phone, and £415 in cash.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Cour t on Thursday heard that messages on the mobile phone showed both Gregory and Clark were involved in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin between September 18 and October 4, 2020.
The defendants, of Cheam Place, Llanishen, both pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and Gregory also pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Prosecutor James Evans told the court both Gregory and Clark had previous convictions for dishonesty and violence but this offence was the first related to the supply of drugs.
In mitigation Harry Baker, representing Gregory, said his client became involved in selling drugs in order to feed his own habit.
Andrew Taylor, representing Clark, said the defendant had become involved in a number of abusive relationships and allowed her phone to be used by Gregory to sell drugs.
He said Clark had lost her father and a friend while in custody but she was now studying for a humanities degree specialising in creative writing and was assisting a charity which helps vulnerable women.
Judge Michael Fitton QC sentenced Gregory to 32 months imprisonment.
Clark was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months and was ordered to carry out a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 150 hours unpaid work.
