Drug dealer pepper sprayed in police arrest

A Langford man found with Class A drugs has been handed mental health treatment.

Police stopped a car being driven by Jeremy Musgrave in Kingswood on February 13.

He gave a false date of birth and resisted arrest before he was detained and found with crack cocaine with a street value of £240.

Musgrave, 32, of Pudding Pie Lane, pleaded guilty to possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply.

Judge Martin Picton handed him 21 months' jail, suspended for 18 months, with 18 months' mental health treatment and rehabilitation.

He said he was aware of his background and understood he had issues with his mental health.

He told Musgrave: "There are people who want to work with you to assist you."

Jennifer Tallentire, prosecuting, said when Musgrave resisted arrest he was taken to the ground and PAVA spray was used on him.

He was found in possession of 23 wraps of crack cocaine as well as some green vegetable matter and £180 cash, which the judge forfeited.

The court was told he had no previous convictions for drug offences.
