A drug dealer has been sent to prison after he was caught sending class A substances disguised as protein powder through the mail, according to police.
Dmitrijs Tarkakanovs was spotted on CCTV sending a parcel that had been flagged as containing 1kg of MDMA and 100g of cocaine and then traced back to a post office in Peterborough.
Police were alerted when the man tried to send more packages in the post office in November.
They arrived and arrested Tarkakanovs, who had more than 60 individual parcels containing crystal meth, heroin, ecstasy and LSD, according to police.
The 27-year-old would use special delivery to send his drugs, Cambridgeshire Police said.
After his arrest, police searched Tarkakanovs’ house in Peterborough and found more cannabis and ecstasy.
Cambridgeshire Police said he has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs.
Andrew Donaldson, a detective constable, said the drug dealer “thought he had found a loophole to exploit”.
“The addresses on the parcels were to all around the world, including Australia,” he said.
“Thank you to the post office staff in Peterborough and the police and customs officers in Jersey.
“The Jersey customs officer’s diligence in spotting the drugs disguised as protein powder has helped put him behind bars”.
Tarkakanovs was sentenced to six years in prison at Peterborough Crown Court.
