Drug dealer hauled to court after cops find £500 worth of cannabis hidden under driver seat

A drug dealer has been spared jail after he was caught with £500 worth of cannabis hidden underneath his car seat.

Hamza Subani, 26 was stopped by police with a woman in his silver Ford Fiesta on Lily Lanes in Ashton, on March 12, 2018.

After giving officers his details, it emerged that Subani had no valid Drivers License or insurance to drive the vehicle.

Police searched searched the car and discovered 70 snap bags of cannabis bush tucked underneath the driver's seat.

Another bag of cannabis was found in the front of the vehicle, along with a burner pay as you go phone, and three other mobiles.

Subani was arrested for possession of a class B drug with intent to supply, and the car was seized by officers.

Hamza Subani was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for two years at Minshull Street Crown Court (MEN Media)

Appearing at Minshull Street Crown Court, Subani, of Charleston Street, Oldham was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.

He had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a class B drug.

Subani was also made subject to a six-month drug rehabilitation course and ordered to complete a rehabilitation activity requirement.

An order was made for forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis and the mobile phones which Subani used to conduct his illicit activities.

The Ford Fiesta which was seized at the time was scrapped.

In an earlier statement, PCSO Ryan Chadwick said: "We will be working closely with the residents on the Lanes who are being blighted by people who think they can park up and conduct illegal activities on the Lane.

"The Ashton Hurst team are taking the matter seriously and will be increasing patrols on the lane.

"As the nights become lighter and the Lane is used more often by those who wish to enjoy the surrounding area for its great views and walks, we don't want to see an increase in vehicles being used anti-socially or conducting illegal activities."
