Drug dealer gets Twitter users hot under collar as mugshot goes viral

An East Midlands drug dealer's mugshot has gone viral on social media.

Stephen Perry, 29, helped produce thousands of pounds worth of cannabis alongside a number of other men, including three from Nottingham, and was consequently handed a three-year prison sentence for his crimes.

Derbyshire Police posted a mugshot of Perry, of Smalley Drive, on Twitter and the post now has more than 1,200 quote tweets from people who have got a little hot under the collar over the tattooed criminal.

The social media buzz is somewhat akin to the response to Jeremy Meeks, the so-called 'hot felon', who set pulses racing after he was jailed in 2014 for grand theft and possession of a firearm.

Stockton Police Department in America posted his mugshot on Facebook which inadvertently led to him going viral and, once released, launched his modelling career as a result.

Social media users have similarly forgot Perry's crimes and expressed a bit of admiration for him over his looks.

One Twitter user posted: "How do I go about gaining a visitor's permit for Stephen please? Asking for a friend"

Another said: "Where do I pay Stephen's bail."

Take a look at some of the replies below:

Egi Tafa, 24, of Calderdale, Nottingham led the gang, which was running the cannabis growing operation across Nottingham, Mansfield, Doncaster, King’s Lynn, Birmingham and Sandiacre.

They were found after being raided by police.

His right-hand man Mevlan Koci, 29, also of Calderdale, Nottingham, joined him in teaming up with Derby-based drug dealer Stephen Perry to produce hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of cannabis.

The drugs were grown by a team of Albanian gardeners who tended to the drugs in properties across the UK.

They were then supplied to Callum Clarke, 31, of Linnet Drive, Rainworth, Mansfield along with Brett Simpson, who sold to users across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Staffordshire.

They were sentenced upon appearing at Derby Crown Court on August 17.

In total nine men were jailed for involvement in the criminal activities.
