Drue Tranquill out, Donovan Smith questionable for second half vs. Packers

Two of the Kansas City Chiefs’ starters were injured in the first half of the team’s Week 13 tilt against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.

First, linebacker Drue Tranquill exited the game to be evaluated for a concussion on the game’s first drive. Later in the first half, left tackle Donovan Smith was removed from the game with a neck injury.

The team announced the players’ status on Twitter just after the second quarter kicked off.

Kansas City is down by eight points after allowing Green Bay to score two touchdowns earlier in the contest. Jack Cochrane was brought in to replace Tranquill in the middle of the Chiefs defense, and rookie Wanya Morris relieved Smith on Kansas City’s offensive line.

The loss of two starters could prove to be too much for the Chiefs to overcome in the second half, but with Patrick Mahomes under center, anything is possible.
