VIZAG: Like in the first innings, England found the going tough once Zak Crawley was dismissed. The tall opener was the top scorer for the visitors in both innings here and was looking good on 73 when India successfully reviewed. This was after umpire Erasmus had turned down their LBW appeal off the bowling of Kuldeep.
England captain Ben Stokes had his reservations despite the DRS process coming up with three reds. "Technology in the game is there. It can never be 100%, which is why we have the umpire's call. When it's not 100% as everyone says, I don't think it's unfair for someone to say 'I think the technology has got it wrong on this occasion.' That is my opinion.
"But in a game full of ifs, buts and maybes, I am not going to say that the reason why we haven't got the result we wanted. I'm just saying technology has gone wrong on this occasion, and I think that's fair to say."
Stokes said he was happy with the way England went about the chase. "That's exactly how we play cricket. It doesn't always work. But then at the end, Jasprit Bumrah's an absolute champion of a bowler. I love watching very good cricketers go about their business and Bumrah is one. It's another great Test for him, but I'm happy with our approach with the bat."
The England captain said the result here will not change their outlook. "Being 2-0 up would be great, but that's the great thing about a five-match series. We're a very level-headed team. Last week we were pretty level even though we'd achieved something special. Same this week. In the changing room, we're still upbeat about some of the great stuff we've managed to do albeit not getting the result we wanted to." Stokes also praised his trio of young spinners.
