RAIPUR: Presidential candidate of National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Droupadi Murmu, is arriving in the state capital on Friday as part of her ongoing campaigning for the Presidential elections, slated for July 18.
Providing information about the visit of Murmu, senior BJP leaders Nandkumar Sai and Kedar Kashyap said that the Adivasi Samaj of the state are united and eagerly awaiting Murmu's arrival in Raipur. They appealed to the legislators of different political parties, including the ruling-party Congress to support Murmu.
Tribal leader Sai said that Murmu will arrive in Raipur at 9 am on July 15 to meet the legislators and MPs for support in the Presidential election. We have plans to arrange meetings of Murmu with legislators of different parties of the state to garner support. Murmu will stay for nearly two hours in Raipur, said Sai.
On Yashwant Sinha, Murmu's Presidential contemporary, Sai said, "We are old friends, but at the moment our focus is on Murmu who not only represents tribals but also symbolises women power."
Sai recalled the candidature of tribal candidate P A Sangma by the then opposition during the Congress rule. However, Sangma lost it due to the absence of a majority.
Sai hoped that the Congress legislators of Chhattisgarh would vote for Murmu.
Kashyap said that regional parties like Shiv Sena, YSR Congress and BJD have already extended their support.
