Drop-in appointments for booster jags available across Lanarkshire

NHS Lanarkshire is continuing drop-in appointments for booster jabs today (Wednesday).

The health board announced that drop-ins at all vaccination centres are available until 6pm.

The booster jabs are available to anyone over 18, who has had their first two vaccinations.

Centres across South Lanarkshire that will be available for drop-ins include Airdrie Town Hall, Alistair McCoist Complex in East Kilbride and the Banqueting Hall in South Lanarkshire Council Headquarters in Hamilton.

Drop-ins for the booster jag can also be done at Fernhill Community Centre in Rutherglen, Link Community Centre in Cumbernauld and Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell.

NHS Lanarkshire also announced yesterday that the Covid vaccine is strongly recommended for pregnant women.

It has been shown that pregnant women with coronavirus have a higher risk of being admitted to intensive care than women of the same age who are not pregnant.

So far, 63.6 per cent of people aged over 12 in Lanarkshire have received their booster jag or third dose of the vaccine.
