Drones seized as police target crooks flying drugs into prison

Police have seized four drones and arrested five people during an operation targeting the supply of drugs into a Warrington prison.

Three men and two women were arrested yesterday ( January 13) as part of an investigation into the supply of drugs into HMP Risley in Warrington.

The men arrested at addresses in the Crewe area were aged 26, 31 and 31. The women, also arrested in Crewe, were aged 19 and 25.

Four drones, a type of radio controlled device that can fly long distances, and cash were seized during the raids, police said.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabularuy said to the ECHO : "Police investigating the supply of drugs to HMP Risley have arrested five people.

"On Wednesday 13 January police conducted five warrants at addresses in Crewe and Alsager as part of an investigation into the supply of drugs to HMP Risley.

"Two women aged 19 and 25 were arrested at addresses in Kestrel Drive and Pyrus Avenue in Crewe, while two men aged 26 and 31 were arrested at addresses in Woodside Avenue and Grove Court in Alsager. A third man aged 31 was arrested at an address in Waldrons Lane, Crewe. Four drones were seized during the warrants along with drugs and cash.

"All five remain in custody helping police with their enquiries."
