YALA: A drone has been impounded from a civilian’s house in Yaha district after it was believed to be linked with a grenade attack at a security post on Tuesday.
The unmanned aerial vehicle was confiscated from the house No.63/1 in Ban Lima Pulo in tambon Ba-Ngoi Sinae on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities also found Koreeya Sadeeyamu inside the house. She was taken to Yaha police station for questioning.
Flight data will be retrieved from the drone to determine whether it is connected with the attack and the house owner will be questioned.
The confiscation came after two M79 grenades were fired at the security post in Yaha district during the early hours of Tuesday, injuring two military rangers on duty.
The post normally serves as a security checkpoint in Ban Lima Pulo in tambon Ba-ngoi Sinae.
An unidentified group of people fired the grenades at the post, causing explosions that sent pieces of shrapnel into the air, injuring the rangers.
Mai Mana, who was stationed with three other rangers near the post, said he and the other rangers had spotted a drone being flown around the post at about 3am.
It flew off when they pointed a torch at it, he said. It was believed the drone was flying reconnaissance for the attack.
