Drone footage shows incredible Tinsel Town taking over The Trafford Centre

A giant toboggan slide has arrived at the Trafford Centre as part of its huge Tinsel Town event.

At 37 metres long and billed as 'the UK's largest transportable toboggan ride', it's just one of the 'winter wonderland of rides' that have opened outside The Orient.

The event follows the success of the venue's Summer Social and Spookfest events and is running from now until January 3.

As well as the fairground, there's lots more fun to enjoy at the site too, including a 600-square metre covered ice rink and Gandeys Snowstorm - 'a sensational ice-skating show' performed live inside a heated Big Top.

There's also the chance to visit Father Christmas inside his twinkling tipi and take a ride on the big wheel.

The fairground includes more than 20 rides in all including Santa's Train, the Tinsel Town coaster, Rock Rage, Sky Flyer and the Reverse Bungee.

There's a £3.50 entry fee (£3 if booked online) and rides operate on a token system, costing £1 per token, and ranging from two to three tokens per ride.

You can get 25 tokens for price of 20 by booking online in advance and you get a three-hour slot, either 4pm-7pm or 6pm -9pm midweek, or noon-3pm, 3pm-6pm, or 6pm-9pm at weekends.

At Father Christmas' tipi children are welcomed by his elves before heading through to see the big man himself and hearing about the preparations he's making for the special day.

They also get to join in with the Elves' Christmas song. It costs £9 per child (including a gift from Santa) and £5 per adult. Sessions can be booked online here.

Ice skating costs £7.50 for ages three to 15 off-peak and £9 at peak times. Adults are £9.50 and £12 respectively. Family tickets cost £30 off-peak, £35 peak.

Tickets for Gandeys Snowstorm cost from £9.99 and can be booked online here.

Those visiting the ice show, Father Christmas, or wanting to enjoy food and drinks in the giant covered hangar don't need to pay the general admission fee.

And there are plenty of food options to choose from, with mulled wine and other delights from traditional Bavarian Huts, to independent street food vendors including the new Oh My Glaze, Old School Dogs, The Thai Food Van, Epic Pizza, Bouji Baker and Clean Traits.
