MONKLANDS learners can take a driving test from Monday, September 14, and the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is urging them to be properly prepared before booking a test.
The lifting of restrictions by the Scottish Government follows a phased return of the driving test across the whole of Britain.
Learners in Airdrie and Coatbridge should check their knowledge and skills are up to standard; and speak to their instructor to make sure they are still well prepared and up to test standard before re-booking their test.
The DVSA will also be reopening up their booking service to the general public in Scotland on the same day and make more than 375,000 new and rescheduled tests available on to book up to January 21 next year.
The organisation has invited all Monklands candidates whose tests were put on hold as a result of the pandemic to re-book a driving test.
DVSA chief driving examiner Mark Winn said: "I know many learners are keen to take their driving test but it is vital they have the right skills and knowledge to help them through a lifetime of safe driving before attempting it.
“Anyone who is re-booking or taking a test should make sure they’ve had enough practice with a professional driving instructor and are ready.
“Learners should practise driving on a variety of roads and in different driving conditions so they are well prepared for driving independently.”
Safety measures have been put in place to protect learners and examiners from Covid-19 and DVSA has published information on gov.uk so candidates know what to expect.
