Driving test slots 'available' at Glasgow centres despite huge online backlog

There are still slots available for practical driving tests to be sat in Glasgow according to the UK Government, despite a huge backlog to book.

Over 375,000 new driving test dates have been released by the government today.

However, as learner drivers have gone to book a test via the government website, they've been faced with an online queue over 150,000 people across the country.

Yet, a document published today on the UK Government website, here, states appointments are 'available' at Glasgow's Anniesland, Baillieston and Shieldhall centres.

A statement on the DVSA website stated: "Level of demand for tests is exceptionally high.

"If you have not been able to book or change your driving test appointment, please try again on Monday 14th September we will be making over 375,000 more new and rescheduled tests available on 14 September to book up to 21 January 2021.

"If you want to cancel a test, please try again from 8am Thursday 10th September when this service will be available again.

"We apologise for any inconvenience."

As well as making tests available to book 18 weeks ahead, the DVSA plans to increase the number of car driving tests per day from five to six as instructors use hygiene measures.

There are no waiting or cancellation lists.
