Driving instructor smashes car into lamppost while trying to overtake ambulance

A driving instructor smashed into a lamppost while trying to overtake an ambulance, with the front of the car left severely battered.

Shocking photos showed extensive damage to the front of the car after it had veered into the lamppost which then crashed to the floor.

Police swarmed the scene after being called by the ambulance service to the crash just off the M61 in Bolton, Greater Manchester.

Officers say the vehicle had tried to overtake an ambulance while driving round a bend before crashing into the lamppost, the MEN reports.

Miraculously, no one was injured.
