Drivers warned of Stonehouse road closure that will also affect Strathaven and Larkhall tonight

Scottish Water is advising road users in parts of South Lanarkshire about a road closure this evening, to repair a burst water main.

A section of the A71 Stonehouse by-pass just west of the roundabout at Lockhart Street will be closed in both directions from early this evening (December 2) to enable work to repair a burst trunk main.

The road closure will affect road users in the Stonehouse area and those travelling in parts of the surrounding area such as Strathaven and Larkhall.

The burst is not affecting water supplies to properties.

Scottish Water has liaised with South Lanarkshire Council’s roads department when planning the road traffic management. Local diversions will be in operation and signposted.

They  will work to complete the repair and re-open the road as soon as possible.

Scottish Water apologise for any inconvenience to road users and thank them for their patience and understanding.
